I am working through them now. In the middle of 1, trying to get the Star
Spangled Banner down solid with no mistakes!! I am curious, how long does it
take someone (a average beginner, some are faster then others I understand)
to work through a set of 3 books like this ??? I practice about 60-90
minutes about 5 times a week.

A loooooooooong time. <G> If you're all the way up to Star Spangled Banner
then you're basically done with book 1, great job! It's difficult to give a
time limit other than to say each book will probably take a bit longer than
the last because of the more advanced concepts. If you've never
fingerpicked before you're in for a real treat as it gets introduced in book
2 and then you'll see Travis picking in book 3. Good luck and keep at it.

I am trying real hard to get the Star Spangled Banner down so I can do it
without mistakes. I cant yet make it through the entire song without messing
up somewhere along the way . . . . . . I just start trying to play guitar .
. . so never done anything like finger picking etc.

Sounds like you are doing okay. It just takes time, some longer than others.
I have the books you mention and took the time to learn the song you are
working on. Keep at it. It will come, but don't rush it.

I don't know if it will encourage you or discourage you, but it was
about 5 months before I could play the Star Spangled Banner through
without mistakes.

Once you learn it, get a wah-wah and have some fun!

Don't cheat; It took longer to go back and get it right. Voice of experience here!
