what is this part of the guitar?
It's basically the curvature of the fretboard. My Strat has a radius of 7
1/2 which means it's rather rounded, a 13 3/4 would be rather flat.
Smaller radius means more rounded and larger radius means flatter.

Neither is really 'better' for small hands, but they can feel drastically
different. If you have small hands, you'd want to consider the neck profile;
i.e. whether it's thick or thin.. and width.

A larger radius, or flatter fretboard can be better for bending, a 7 1/2'
radius can be tough to do deep bends on, as the string can 'fret out' when
going over the peak of the arc. But smaller radiuses can make fretting
chords easier for some. So there's some personal preference in there. I
personally prefer 12' or greater.

BTW, Warmoth has a compound radius fretboard to address this, smaller radius
towrds the nut, bigger towards the bridge.

I'd recommend going to the store and comparing the feel of a relatively
smaller radius, like a Fender Strat, against a larger radius, like a Gibson,
with both chording on the first several frets, and solo work on the upper
frets.

lol - I meant to use " for inches, a 12 foot radius would be waaay to flat!
